Uniflora vs. Multiflora Honey: How to Choose the Right Himalayan Honey

Uniflora vs. Multiflora Honey: How to Choose the Right Himalayan Honey

If you've browsed our honey collection, you'll have noticed we offer two varieties - Uniflora and Multiflora. Both are raw, unprocessed, and sourced from the Himalayan ranges of Himachal Pradesh. But they're quite different in character. Here's what sets them apart, and how to choose the one that's right for you.

What Does Uniflora and Multiflora Mean?

Uniflora honey is collected from bees that feed predominantly on a single type of flower. Our Himalayan Amrit Uniflora Honey comes from Plectranthus Rugosus - a flowering plant found in the hills of Rohru and Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. The bees harvest this nectar during a narrow window in September and October, making it a truly seasonal, limited product.

Multiflora honey is collected from bees that forage across many different flowers and plants. Our Multiflora Honey draws its nectar from the diverse wildflowers and herbs that bloom across the Himalayan and Dhauladhar ranges - resulting in a complex, layered flavour profile.

Uniflora vs Multiflora Honey (Key Differences)

Colour

Uniflora: Distinctively pale - almost white or cream-coloured. This light colour is characteristic of Plectranthus Rugosus honey and is one of its most striking features.

Multiflora: Rich golden amber, with the depth of colour that comes from multiple nectar sources.

Flavour

Uniflora: Mild, delicate, and subtly sweet with floral notes. Less intense than most honeys, with a clean finish. Perfect for those who prefer a gentler sweetness.

Multiflora: Fuller-bodied and more complex. You'll taste hints of wildflowers, herbs, and earth - a true expression of the diverse Himalayan flora.

Texture

Uniflora: Tends to crystallise more quickly due to its glucose content, developing a smooth, creamy texture over time. This is a sign of purity, not deterioration.

Multiflora: Stays liquid longer, with a smooth, flowing consistency that makes it easy to drizzle and stir.

Availability

Uniflora: Limited harvest window (September-October). Once the season's stock is gone, you'll need to wait until next year.

Multiflora: Available more consistently, as the bees forage across multiple flowering seasons.

Which Should You Choose?

Choose Uniflora if: You appreciate rare, delicate flavours. You want a mild honey for tea, yoghurt, or drizzling over fruit. You're drawn to the idea of a single-origin, seasonal product.

Choose Multiflora if: You love rich, complex honey. You use honey in cooking, baking, or stronger beverages. You want an everyday honey that's versatile and flavourful.

Or get both: Many of our customers keep Uniflora for special moments - a spoonful in their morning herbal tea - and Multiflora for everyday use.

Both Are Raw and Unprocessed

Regardless of which variety you choose, both our honeys are raw and unprocessed. They're never heated, filtered excessively, or blended with sugar syrups. What arrives in your glass jar is exactly what the bees produced - nothing added, nothing taken away.

Both varieties are sourced from trusted apiaries in the Himalayan and Dhauladhar ranges, where the bees feed on wild, pesticide-free flora. This is honey as nature intended it.
